Food

When we hear the word “Food”, what have come out from your mind? Curry laksa, roti canai or pawn mee? Food is the basis element for humans to live. In the past, humans have to gain energy from food to work but now humans eat just to enjoy the taste. Especially Malaysians, they live to and not eat to live. Malaysia is built up of different races, culture and religion. They have different types of food. Malay, Chinese and Indian or the native have different culture to serve the food. So be a Malaysian, I can taste many kind of food in Malaysia compare to others country.

I enjoy a lot when I am eating. When I am eating, I always thank to God for given me the opportunity to taste and try the food around the world. In Malaysia, there are not only the Chinese, Malay and Indian food but also have Korean, Japanese, French, Thai, Vietnamese, Italian and some of the western food. I can choose and taste the different country’s food and the place is in Malaysia, sometimes it was near to my housing area too. That is so lucky for us as a Malaysia; we can taste the food and do not have to spend money for travel to the overseas country.

Beside that, I can learn about other race’s culture through the food that they had served. Follow our Chinese culture, we had been asked to eat in a pin drop silence condition. We are not allowed to talk and knock the plate or bow when we are consuming the meal. If we have broken the rules, we are considered rude to elder and guest. For Malay, they have to fast during Ramadan which is a month before their new year. They start at 6 in morning and end around 7 to 8 in the evening. The purpose is to remind them about the poor who do not have food, so that they can understand the difficulties of poor. These are also the culture of their religion.

Although there are many types of food in Malaysia, there are also the cause of disease such as cancer, heart attack and obesity. From the research, there are about over 55% of people in Malaysia are having the problem of obesity. These are cause by their choosiness of food. Their only consume what their like. So we have to control ourselves to take the meal regular and having the food amount according to the food pyramid, we also have to always think of the quality of food and not quantity. Furthermore, we have strictly prevent from taking too much of junk food and fast food.

Food is the basic needed of human’s life so we have to enjoy it. We also can learn the knowledge while we a consuming a meal. But we should eat healthy and avoid for too much. Food can lead us to better life style or the other way. Consume food wisely is the way to have healthy life style.
